I can hardly believe it’s November. Halloween is over and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. We don’t trick or treat but E made some peanut butter eyeballs for the occasion. We had a good time with the decorating, but I must say that some of them came out looking like they had a bad case of glaucoma...or something.
Sugar, sugar, and more sugar
Do mothers still give their kids castor oil the day after Halloween and Easter? I cannot imagine they do. I haven't heard of that in a looong time.
The ice rink opened up for the season on Saturday with a free skating party. It was red ribbon week and all you had to do was show a red ribbon for admittance to the rink. Along with a bunch of other folks, M and E enjoyed a night of ice skating, hot dogs, and music. David and I stayed home and watched a bad movie. Can't complain though. The weekend was pleasant, albeit soggy.
The rain has been hanging around for the last few days. It was falling pretty steadily this morning, although it had stopped by the time E and I went to make groceries. We went to the store to pick up a case of spring water and a few other things. I know it's silly paying for water. The Evian people know this too. The name of their product spelled backwards is...NAIVE. Let me see. I buy Aqua Vista. I don't think that spells anything backwards...ATSIV AUQA.
Before heading to the water isle, we stopped at the bakery for the free sample. It was yummy carrot cake.
E eats some carrot cake.
We got the rest of the stuff we needed. Then before we checked out, we went to take a picture by the fireplace.
Shoppers can have a snack and get warm too.
I was hoping the sky would clear up a bit so you could see the mountains. They are really pretty this time of year, when you can see them. The clouds persisted, the mountains kept hiding, and I thought of my father in law. "People in hell want snowballs", he used to say. I gave up and figured I just couldn't snap the picture I wanted to take today.
Making groceries: One of the old New Orleans expressions people use when they are going to do the marketing. After makin' groceries, perhaps we'll go by our mama's.
